A new fantastic event is about to begin in Hamirpur of Himachal Pradesh. An Olympic torch run started on Saturday, launched by Dharmendra Singh Yadav. This will be followed by Himachal Olympics on June 22. This sports event includes11 games- Kho-Kho, Kabbadi, Boxing, Volleyball, Judo, Weightlifting, Athletics, Hockey, Basket Ball, Shooting and Wrestling.
Till now, the state of Himachal is known as ‘Veer Bhoomi’ but after this event, it will be called as ‘KhelBhoomi’. The Olympic torch passed through Solan, Una, Ponta Sahib, Nurpur, Joginder, Kullu, Mandi, Bilaspur and eventually, concluded in Hamirpur.

The event is expected to attract about 50k participants from across the state. The tournament will bring glory to the state and is organized by the IOC (Indian Olympic Association) executive committee. It will stretch from 22 June to 25 June.
Apart from the Olympic Champions like Shiv Thapa, Sumit Sangwan, and Manoj Kumar, many Bollywood celebrities are also expected to arrive at the opening ceremony of the sporting event.
HPOA president Anurag Thakur said, “The response to the Olympic Torch Run has been overwhelming and we are confident that the Games will gather an even bigger number in terms of participation. The HPOA is committed to providing an environment and platform for upcoming sportspersons whereby their talent can be discovered at the grassroots and then nurtured to the point where they may one-day represent India at the Olympic Games. We firmly believe this initiative will win us a medal in the Olympic Games in the years to come”.
Himachal youths have proved their talent in many fields like education, aeronautics, singing, folk dancing, cinema, and sports. They are expected to enter in sports at the national level after this event. Many talents are hidden deep in small towns of the state; this state level Olympic is an opportunity to take out these otherwise, repressed abilities. The plan to make quality infrastructure to shape these talents is being carried out in the state and state Olympics is the best thing since sliced bread.
Unemployment can result in depression that can lead the youth to bad conducts like consuming drugs or illegal activities. Many talented and deserving candidates are redundant and will ultimately lose their self-confidence. Therefore, it becomes the duty of the state to take care of these young people so that they are not forced to commit any crime or fall wide of the mark. Today’s young generation is the future of tomorrow, they should be taken care of so that they can contribute towards the positive growth of the state and the nation. The event like the Himachal Olympics is a commendable effort in this direction and will definitely help to resolve the issue to a great extent.
